Ermelinda Cuellar

Ermelinda graduated from the Moore’s School of Music, University of Houston, with a bachelor’s degree in classical voice performance.  Upon graduation, she auditioned and was accepted in various apprentice programs for several Opera houses in Southeast United States.

Currently, Ms. Cuellar is an active jazz singer.  She performs jazz standards from the Great American Songbook.  Her voice has been described as smooth, playful and heartfelt, with qualities reminiscent to Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day and Diana Krall.

Ermelinda has been teaching piano and voice for 15 years.  She began teaching at MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts), an inner-city school in the old 6th ward area.  After several years at MECA, she made the transition to begin teaching in Sugar Land and Pearland, Texas, and taught at Colony Music and Pearland Music for 10 years until they closed in Dec 2020.
