AJ Smith was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Smith College inNorthampton, Massachusetts but moved back to Houston to be closer to family.

She started playing piano when she was 4 years old. Through high school she competed in UIL piano competitions and took yearly theory exams. Recently, she was the pianist at the Cross Culture Church in Stafford. She also sang in choirs through middle school and high school.

AJ has a great deal of experience in education and working with children. From a young age, she assisted in Montessori classrooms and continued working in education after college. She taught algebra in high schools, as well as privately tutored in math, physics and biology. She is a mother of three, who homeschooled all of her kids for a few years before going back to work full-time in a medical clinic.

AJ has a great love for music. It is always been an important part of her life. She even recently taught herself how to play ukulele as a hobby. She is excited to encourage the next generation to learn and love music!
