Availability: Sunday - Saturday
Born and raised in the Houston area, Melanie McCreary is a passionate mezzo-soprano who’s been surrounded by music her entire life. She’s been active in choirs for 13 years and though most of the music she sings is classical, some of her other favorite genres include pop, indie, rock, and musical theatre.
Melanie is currently attending the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music where she is pursuing a bachelor degree in music education and vocal performance. During her time at Moores, she has had the opportunity to perform with the award-winning Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Betsy Weber, and currently serves as alto section leader. Melanie has also performed with the Montgomery County Choral Society in Conroe, Texas. Some of the works she has performed with these groups include Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Vivaldi’s Gloria. While Melanie’s primary focus is voice, she also plays the piano. She began learning the piano in high school, however most of her knowledge has been cultivated through various piano classes taken at the Moores School of Music. Aside from going to school and teaching, Melanie also serves as the Director of Music Ministries at Grace United Methodist Church located in central Houston.
Through her teaching, Melanie hopes to inspire her students, and always encourages them to strive to become better versions of themselves!
