Amia Langer - (Voice and Piano)

Amia Langer, soprano, recently completed her Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Houston where she studied with Melanie Sonnenberg. She was the First Place Winner of the North Dakota-Manitoba Districts and an Encouragement Award recipient at the Upper Midwest Region of the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, finalist in the 2023 inaugural Duncan Williams Voice Competition, semifinalist in the 2023 Houston Saengerbund Vocal Competition, and the Audience Choice Award recipient at the 2022 Houston Gilbert and Sullivan Society Career Competition. During her graduate studies she performed leading roles with the Moores Opera Center, including Margarita Xirgu (Osvaldo Golijov’s Ainadamar), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), and Anne (A Little Night Music). She performed with the Brevard Music Center 2022, and was a participant of the 2021 Houston Grand Opera Young Artist Vocal Academy. Amia will be a Young Artist in the 2023 Festival Napa Valley Manetti Shrem Opera Program, perform with Ars Lyrica Houston in their “Awe and Wonder” concert, and perform  in Houston Grand Opera’s 2023-2024 Opera to Go! season. 

Amia has been a music teacher for the past four years and counting, and loves seeing her former and current students enjoy music making! She thoroughly enjoys helping students explore music through piano or voice lessons, and seeing her students grow not just in knowledge but in confidence as well
